This pack is a love letter to minedodge, of sorts. I've always loved the
idea of a minedodge pack, and have always wanted to make one.
With James making an Extra pack for The Etterna Touhou Project,
I asked if I could make a small minipack dedicated to minedodge,
within the constraints of it being touhou-themed, of course.
When James said yes, I began work on this pack!

Danmaku Minipack is a pack to test your ability to play minedodge,
It will show you many different varieties and approaches minedodge
can have, while keeping you engaged through variety of approaches.

The pack is designed to be played in a specific order, due to the
pack being formatted so that the charts will load in order of
their difficulty in minedodge.

It is worth remembering that MSD does not take minedodge into account!

This pack also uses a unique minedodge difficulty system, designed by;
Zeta, Windoze & Samctuary. This system is "tiers", tier "tier 5"
is top tier incredibly hard minedodge! If you want to learn more about
the tiers, check out the description here:

Here I'm going to write my opinions on each chart in the pack,
as well as the concept the chart was going for, and how well
I think it approached and executed that concept!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Into the Abyss / Maritumix --

This chart had a simple concept; be an immersive introduction into
the atmosphere and vibe of the pack. In that reguard, I'm pretty
sure the chart nailed it! A very long, immersive mineart and fakeart
intro, with repeating notes so its easy to read, that leads into a
simple accurate chart to get your brain used to mine placements.

I'm really happy with my mineart in this chart, personally.
I think it really captures the vibe of the song.
The jack patterns James charted are also immaculate

For clarity - I did the immersive intro,
James did everything after it ^^

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Egyptian Nareko / Mille Oculos --

This chart was made to be the accbait chart where you train your raw
ability to dodge simple mines on a short, easy to acc chordjack chart!

I think in this reguard, I made it fit perfectly. It's not hard, and
since its still in easy, it warms up your mine to get used to reading
mines, since the mines in this chart are unintrusive, but still try
to make you focus quite a bit, making it perfect for baiting accuracy!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- 緋色月下、狂咲ノ絶 / 葉月なの --

This was the first chart ever made for the pack!

This song is an ironic Touhou classic! The chart in question was
designed to trick you into thinking its a normal jumpstream chart,
before pulling the rug under you with some easy accurate stuff during
denser mines than seen previously. The main test in this chart though,
is that it forces 100% brightness the entire time, to make it harder
to try and read, and keep you immersed later during... a certain part.

I think this chart executes on the concept mentioned quite well.
The BGchanges in this chart really add to the experience, and
people learning to read with 100% brightness is a fun concept.
The chart is easy enough that everyone who's playing a pack like
this can probably still enjoy it despite the background, and the
mines and patterning is very simple to give you plenty of leeway
to get used to it!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- カリスマ煉獄天神 / 森羅万象 --

This chart was made to introduce people playing through this pack to
how mines can be used while density to create mineart.
The mines in this chart are a lot more artsy than prior charts, so
that the player can practice reading charts during engaging and rapidly
changing mine densities and expression. The chart itself is meant to be
quite easy, with only a few sections to bait mine hits!

This chart manages to execute on the concept described quite well,
I believe. The mines remain engaging throughout the entire chart.
While the patterning is simple, the mineart being so intricate
makes it hard to notice. I personally think this executes well
on the idea presented. There was originally meant to be a forced
100% brightness video in the background, but it didn't work!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- サイケデリック鬼桜同盟 / SOUND HOLIC --

This one's a rechart of a very very old DourGent file in
Boss Rush Megapack!

The concept of this chart is add mines to add mines in more annoying
places for the player than prior charts, while keeping the density
very light! You'll notice this chart is the first instance of
intentionally very close mines, so the player can get used to
them being close to the note, however, the mines are early!
The mines being early are because close early mines are significantly
easier to avoid, than close late mines! It gives the illusion of
tight minedodge, while maintaining easy!

In terms of execution, I think this chart travels a fine line.
It is the first difficulty jump in the pack, and as a result
I can completely understand this catching some people by surprise!
However, That is intended, as this is meant to be the first real
"minedodge" chart in the pack. So far, everything else could've
been handwaved away as being expressive mines. I wanted to make
a chart that is clearly focused on being a minedodge chart above
all else, to brace people for what's coming next! You can decide
for yourself if I did that well or not, but I like to think I did.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- O-eyama EXTREME --

This chart was designed to be the first chart to use mines that are
close enough tat the player has to conciously lift the key. At this
point, the player knows what to expect from minedodge, and should
be ready to intentionally dodge and wave between the mines. Since
this is the first chart that requires you to lift your key so heavily,
The mines have been only placed in the light sections of the chart.
The denser sections of the chart do not have any real minedodge.
This is so the player can enjoy the minedodge, and have a small break.

I believe this chart is one of the cleanest in the pack (out of my own
charts), since the execution is very focused on a specific idea.
It doesn't try to do multiple things at once, it is purely a very
simple minedodge chart that focuses on minimal mine use for a truly
enjoyable minedodge experience. I find myself playing this one a lot.
The mineless jumpstream in the middle acts as a nice break to recover
if you're struggling.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- LOVE & BREAK OUT! / ちょこふぁん --

Now we're getting into the real hard minedodge. This charts concept
is very cool. It's focus is to force you to release your holds on
time, to simulate release timing on etterna. On top of that, it has
lots of early and late mines that quite close. You have to really be
paying attention by this point, lest you lose focus and hit a mine.
This chart also does a lot to keep the player engaged in its patterns.

I think James cooked so hard with this chart. Every part of this chart
has something engaging and entertaining going on, despite the song
being so simple. The patterns are fun, and the mine placement is
very consistent, you know what to expect and it boils down to your own
skill to pull off in time and avoid those mines. Very entertaining.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- 超最終鬼畜妹フランドール・S / beatMARIO X MARON --

It is strongly recommended by this point to use failoff or delayed.

Now we're getting into the really hard minedodge. This charts entire
concept is to really mess with you, swapping between very tight mines
that are on the verge of forcing early manip, and very tight late mines
that fuck with your reading. This chart also has a lot of genuinely hard
patterns in it that even without the mines, would trip people up.

James absolutely hit the nail on the head when making this chart.
The mines in this chart are brutal, lots of holds into mines, jacks
into mines, lots of swapping between early and late. Just genuinely
hard minedodge through and through. This is the chart where I think
most people (Including casual minedodge players) will begin to die.

The easier difficulty adds to that by nerfing the mines, so players
can practice on an easier version of the same chart, before attempting
the much harder one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Fantasy Dragon-Slayer / COOL&CREATE, Manon --

The concept behind this chart is very simple: I wanted to show what each
level of minedodge looked and felt like. This chart was designed to be
a taster palette of each minedodge level, from Tier 1 to Tier 5.
Throughout the chart, i wanted each section to represent a different
difficulty level of minedodge, simulated via Touhou difficulties.

In terms of execution. You should play it and see for yourself first,
before reading the rest of this paragraph!.

Did you play it? Good! I nailed it right? I'm very fucking happy with
this chart, if you can't tell. That tier 5 section (the "extra" part)
is so brutal. I love it. Trying to survive through that section gives
me so much anxiety. I don't think I've experienced a chart that has
this vibe before. Well... except for.... what comes next.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

-- TERRACOTTA / MAD MIND MACHINE --

Whew. Okay, this chart. This chart was designed to be theoretically
passable on 1x. This is meant to be one of the hardest legitimate
minedodge charts (That aren't a gimmick) in the entire game.
The aim was to make a chart that people can strive towards even just
passing, let along AA'ing or getting a mineless run on it.
Everything in this chart is stuff I have personally seen someone hit
at least once, in isolation, in some way or another.

In terms of execution? Based on the response from other minedodge
enjoyers... I think I did very well. This chart is unlike any other.
Forced early manip? - Check.
Forced late manip (that exists?? yes!). - Check.
Both at once? - Check.
Insta-death walls of mines? - Check.
Crazy hard sandwiches? - Check.
Patterns to trick you into hitting mines? - Check.

I could go on. This chart is absolutely insane, and I urge you to try
and play it blind, with failoff, if you don't believe me. You will
not survive. If you do, dm me. There's no prize, I just REALLY want
to see this chart passed. Even downrate AA's on this chart
will impress me. Feel free to ping me in eo (Martzi/dancing_kasha)
for scoreposts of this insane chart!

Worried the patterns are too hard? That's fine! I made an easier diff.
The BG/PRC difficulty of this chart is exclusively to learn the chart.
It has the same patterns, but significantly easier minedodge!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

And that's the pack! A progressively harder minedodge pack focused on
variety, with a boss chart at the end! Hope you enjoyed the pack ^^

If you're reading this to read about the pack, now's your time to
close the readme! I'm about to talk about my own personal feelings
towards touhou!

I've already discussed it in the afterword on the main pack's readme,
but Touhou is truly special to me. Just how special is hard to put
into words, but I'm its very important to me. I have essencially
grew up, surrounded by Touhou. You want to talk about
autistic obsessions? Mine isn't charting, if you can believe it.
My obsession is Touhou! The only reason i play Etterna, is because
of touhou. The only reason I chart, is 'cause i wanted to play
touhou charts. The reason I have steam? Was in case Touhou ever
came to steam. Even Sam, my mascot/vtuber, was originally
a character I made as a Touhou OC but i abandoned it because
I felt making a Touhou OC without making a game felt wrong, to me.
Everything i do, circles back to Touhou in some way, shape or form.
That means that James hosting a touhou pack, truly motivated me to
get out of my rutt with charting, kick my ass into gear, and start
having fun again. This pack is the culmination of that. A pack
dedicated to the gameplay style I love most in Etterna (Minedodge),
mixed with the media I love most (Touhou). This is the pack I have
the most fun playing, out of every pack I've ever made. Just because,
its Touhou Minedodge.

Thanks for reading! Sam, out!
